I introduced the DDS using a great powerpoint I found on the Internet by Cathy Oxley.

After viewing the ppt, I asked students to explore and draw things they find in each area of the nonfiction area using the worksheet above.
I preselected interesting books from each 100 area and stacked them on tables and labeled each stack by hundreds. Students can also explore the nonfiction area more and find other books they might use for this activity.



I also have put signs up in the NF area to show what is in each area first. The signs are included here:



After completing this activity students checked out books, including at least one from the the Nonfiction area!
